Cheney Family 23 July 1947 Salt Lake City

In 1947 the Cheney family had a reunion. This reunion coincided with the Church's 100th anniversary celebration of the Pioneers entering the Salt Lake Valley. Many of the Men in the Church grew out their beards as part of this celebration. Wayne had grown quite a nice beard for the occasion. (Selar never grew a beard) Many of the Men enjoyed showing off their beards to each other. However when it came time to take the picture, Wayne insisted on shaving first. --There were three parades that year in Salt Lake, the family saw the one on the 23rd--those who had to leave early did not get to see the 'This is the place' monument unveiled. They only saw it as it was covered with a tarp.
